Making An Appointment

CCS services are available to OSU students enrolled on a part-time or full-time basis or those who are covered by OSU Student Health Insurance. To schedule an appointment, contact us at: 614-292-5766.

Initially you will meet with a counselor for an intake appointment. The counselor will collect some preliminary information about you and your concerns. You and the counselor will decide on a way to address your concerns. This may involve individual, couples or group counseling; referral to a physician; or, perhaps, referral to a clinician outside the agency.

If you are referred for individual counseling with a CCS counselor, you will be contacted with an appointment time and date. This counselor, who will be your ongoing counselor, may or may not be the same person you saw on intake. Within your first couple of sessions, you and your counselor will determine the type and amount of counseling that will best assist you. On average, most students resolve their concerns between five and seven sessions. Sessions are generally 50 minutes in length, but this may vary session to session.

At times, because of demand for CCS services or student limited availability to make an appointment, there may be a wait for counselor assignment. We realize that it is often difficult for students to seek out counseling services, and having to wait can be frustrating. Please know that we make every effort to accommodate as many students as we can with a minimal wait. When there is a wait for services we will provide you with other counseling resources on and off campus.
